Health and Human Services

“Focusing on health maintenance and eliminating chronic health disparities in communities of color.”

Through education, advocacy, and resources, HHS’ empowers seniors and helps them avoid the pitfalls of elder life. HHS’ forum and workshop topics include legal assistance, health and wellness, vision and hearing care, mental health, fitness, medication management, caregiving, Medicare, personal finances, and home safety, among others. Today the Facet continues to help the aging population gracefully meet and navigate the challenges of aging. HHS has sponsored to date more than fifty seminars and workshops with over 5,000 people in attendance.

In support of The GNY Links Chapter-wide Umbrella Program and efforts focused on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM), the Health and Human Services Facet has partnered with Chapter members and community organizations to create a series of health seminars designed around two tracks: 1) Adolescent Health and 2) Family Wellness. Seminars for both students of Frederick Douglass Academy of Harlem and their parents and guardians are designed to address issues from building wellness habits to social and emotional needs.
