Our commitment to young people has been unwavering since our founding in 1946. Among the missions of the Greater New York Chapter of The Links Incorporated is that children from the African Diaspora will be afforded the resources and opportunities necessary to tap into their inherent brilliance.
COVID-19 has disproportionately impacted Black families and for the last two years, our school aged young people have experienced a virtual world that has completely uprooted them. The Maxwell and Obiajulu Scholarship Fund will offer funding to our college bound students to help offset the cost of a college education.
The fund is named in honor of GNY Platinum members, Dr. Marcella Maxwell and Mrs. Betty Obiajulu, who collectively have served the Black community through this chapter of the Links Incorporated for nearly 90 years.
On Saturday, November 13, 2021, we will celebrate these phenomenal women via a virtual event. Additional details will be announced soon.
In the meantime, please donate today to be part of this momentous occasion. Your donation is 100 percent tax deductible and will go towards providing the necessary resources for our young people to go to college in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic.
All donations at the Gold level and above will receive public recognition. Your generous contribution will help us continue to transform communities through service.
As a renowned educator and champion of social justice, Dr. Marcella Maxwell remains a leader in the community. A member of the Greater New York Chapter of the Links Incorporated since 1982, she currently works to enable seniors to age healthily and gracefully.
A lifelong community organizer, Mrs. Betty Obiajulu continues to empower women of varying ages and professions to thrive. She is a past Eastern Area Director for the Links Incorporated and has been a member of the Greater New York Chapter since 1973.
Our goal has been meet and exceeded!
